Why?

Because everyone should get a chance to enjoy emotionally involving sound.
Because we want to multiply fun, joy and happiness!

Digital Audio

In the beginning of the 1990:s digital audio was in its infancy stage and the sound quality was more often than not rather poor. Usually, digital sound exhibited very high levels of digital artifacts such as tinny harsh sound and lacking resolution. This was especially noticeable when playing back complex music like that from a full scale symphony orchestra.

It is at this time the Böhmer Audio story begins…

Room Correction

Our hearing has an impressive ability to resolve events in the time domain. The build up of resonances in any material struck or note played on an instrument is used to determine the character of the material. Is it wood, metal, a trumpet or a violin? In fact, if the first few milliseconds are removed from an instrument’s initial sound it can actually become quite difficult to judge what type of instrument it is.

Typically, the first 5 ms are treated by our hearing as belonging to the initial or direct sound from a sound source. The first 40 ms contain almost all of the clues we need to determine and experience the musical content. This means that any serious room correction system needs to deal with and operate in this crucial period of the time domain.

Room Correction, Inner Workings

The Böhmer Audio Room Correction use a psychoacoustic measurement to capture the loudspeaker and room response. This might not sound very significant and you would be forgiven thinking it is probably only some kind of marketing hype. This is however very far from the truth…

Electronics & signal reconstruction

The Böhmer Audio electronics start out with a cutting edge analog design using only extremely high quality components without any capacitors in the shortest possible signal path. All analog stages are individually filtered and regulated, the digital circuits use state of the art components minimizing RF interference and the clocking circuits use components normally only found in state of the art RF measurement equipment.

All the RF-design tricks learnt designing the Forsell CD-player beginning 25 years ago up till today are implemented in all Böhmer Audio electronics. On top of the state of the art design of the electronics there are a number of other unique elements implemented in the Böhmer Audio DSP control units.
