The First step below is only required once to connect your Wavelet
to your WiFi network. The Second step is used to find your Wavelet
on the network if you’re not using a fixed IP address. Perform the
second step on the computers, pads and phones you wish to use as
remote controls for the Wavelet.
First step
- Insert the supplied USB memory stick into your computer
- Enter your WiFi network name (SSID) and your network
password in the appropriate fields.
- This step is only necessary if you wish to use a fixed
IP address for your Wavelet. Tick the box "Fixed IP address"
to set a fixed IP address in your Wavelet. Enter the fixed IP
address you want to use in the field for IP address. If you
use a different net mask and gateway than the suggested default
values you need to edit these fields as well.
- Press the "Download wifi-conf.txt file" button to download
a "wifi-conf.txt" configuration file.
- Copy the downloaded "wifi-conf.txt" file to the root directory
on the USB memory stick. Note that if you have previously
downloaded a "wifi-conf.txt" file the file name of the new file
will automatically be changed to "wifi-conf (X).txt" where X
is a running number increasing every time you download a new
file. Make sure that the file name of the file on the USB
memory stick is "wifi-conf.txt" and nothing else. You might
have to rename the file after copying it to the USB memory
stick.
Note: Do not edit the wifi-conf.txt file in a text editor
on your computer if you use language specific characters
in your WiFi network name (SSID) or password. There is a
risk that your editor uses a different character set than
the Wavelet, which uses UTF-8. If there is a mismatch
between the character sets the language specific characters
won’t work after you have edited them in your text editor.
- Make sure your Wavelet is turned off.
- Remove the USB memory stick from your computer and plug
it into the back of Wavelet.
- Power up the Wavelet and wait 1 minute, then power it
off again.
- Unplug the USB memory stick and insert the supplied WiFi stick.
- Turn on your Wavelet, wait for 1 minute and check that
the blue LED on the WiFi stick is lit or lit with some
occasional flashing. Then proceed with the second step below.
Second step
- Enter the Wavelet serial number in the serial number
field excluding any spaces. The serial number is
located on the back of the unit beside the USB and
power connectors.
- Press the "Go to WiFi remote pages" button.
- When the Wavelet’s volume control page shows up in your
browser, save a bookmark to the page for easy access in
the future.
